As a young adult, Kathy Phillips worked with her mother managing a combination gift shop and art studio for ten years. As a buyer for her mother's stores, she gained exposure to the wholesale market. With that experience, she had an idea and began manufacturing the candle box in her basement. Her production line consisted of rain gutters used as stain troughs. she used a wood rasp to round the corners of her wood. She attended local craft shows to sell her product. That was before 1997. Then in 1997 she exhibited at her first trade show and took orders for $85,000. With orders she didn't know how she would fulfill, the single mom of two went to the bank and took our her first loan. Today, Kathy employs over 100 people in Lancaster PA. She has surrounded herself with wonderful operational and exceptional service talent so she can focus on product development.
